Vicky Lloyd races to victory at Donington in bio-fuel Caterham

Vicky Lloyd (2006 Formula Woman runner up) raced to victory in the Formula Woman Class at the Caterham Jubilee on June 3rd.

Vicky raced the only Caterham fuelled by E85 bio-ethanol out of the 350 Caterhams at the event. Formula Woman used the event to showcase a selection of their 2006 Championship Caterhams and drivers against one of the new 2007 bio-ethanol fuelled cars. Minister racing engines have initiated a test programme to not only allow Formula Woman to use an alternative-fuel, but also address emissions and consumption. However it was still important to test the bio-ethanol car in a race situation such as this to determine it's full potential.

Vicky qualified over 1 second ahead of her nearest Formula Woman competitor and finished the race over 13 seconds ahead of the second place driver Kirsty Jeffrey. Thus proving further that the bio-fuel Caterham has not lost any performance following its conversion. Vicky's qualifying time would have placed her 7th on the Caterham Roadsport grid, which is surprising as the Roadsports are set up to a higher specification than the Formula Woman cars.

Vicky stated "It was a pleasure to race the only 'Green fuel' car at the event and it was even better to take the win, there were some initial reservations about the swap to E85 which now seem unsubstantiated. I hope that we are proving just how easy it is to become greener by looking at the wider issues surrounding modern motor sport and I would like to thank Autoglym for their continued support".

Formula Woman will be the only UK Championship to run on E85 bio-fuel in 2007 and have become campaign partners with eems.

Vicky points out that she would like to be able to race a bio-ethanol fuelled Caterham in the Roadsport Championship, which at present is not allowed.
